Summative Assessment: Soviet Montage Filming Assessed Criteria: A, B, C, D

Overview of the Task: Produce a rough cut of your Soviet Montage Film planned in the previous summative assessment. Document the Creative Process in your Process Journal. Details on http://theemptyspace.wikispaces.com/Soviet+Montage+Filming
Specific task guidelines: 1. Students will actively participate in the filming in a role assigned by the director. 2. Each day the group works on the film (either in class or outside of class), the student will write an entry based on at least one of the criteria chosen by the student. (Suggestions are posted on the board). 3. In this entry student will address their personal contribution to the film based on the criteria and their personal assigned role and how it achieves the group’s artistic vision. 4. Evidence for the student’s personal contribution can be in the form of pictures, video, audio or other documentary evidence. Formative assessment: 1. 2 spot checks of the process journal. Feedback provided 2. One on one conference with the teacher feedback provided
Objective A: Knowing and Understanding
i. demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the art form studied, including concepts, processes, and the use of subject-specific terminology ii. demonstrate understanding of the role of the art form in original or displaced contexts iii. use acquired knowledge to purposefully inform artistic decisions in the process of creating artwork.
What does this look like? I can… i. Use the vocabulary and language of soviet montage and film, referencing why you are doing each scene to achieve good montage cuts. ii. link what you have done during the using soviet montage to impact the audience. iii. discuss why we made decision about filming that day reverencing the purpose of soviet montage.

i. demonstrate the acquisition and development of the skills and techniques of the art form studied ii. demonstrate the application of skills and techniques to create, perform and/or present art.

What does this look like? I can… ii. show with evidence how as a group we solved problems and applied skills that supported our artistic intention. iii. explore alterative ideas to achieve our artistic intention, and share why what we did is the best solution.
